Invention and patent definition

The invention is a new product or process that solves a technical problem .
This is different from a discovery which is something that is already existed but had not been found.

A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention, which is a product or a process that provides, in general, a new way of doing something, or offers a new technical solution to a problem .
In order to be patentable, the invention must fulfill certain conditions.
According to Syrian Legislative Decree law No. / 47 / 1946, the exclusive right to invest the invention of the patent applies for a period of fifteen years from the date of registering the application form for intellectual property protection .

There are Syrian advanced draft law on patents protection which extends the protection period to twenty years ).
